MISSION STATEMENT

Samahan is a Tagalog word that conveys the feeling of belonging.   As a verb, it means "to join" or "to be a part of."  As a noun, it can be defined as the "coming together" of people.

The Filipino Culture Club at CMSV has adopted this word as its new identity.  Thus, the organization has refocused its  mission so that it is consistent with the essence of its new name.

SAMAHAN is committed to:

help Filipino students get in touch with their roots.  It is the organization that is inclusive of Filipino students, but not exclusive of students from other backgrounds.

expose other students to Filipino culture.  Projects and events will  have both social and educational value.

ultimately bring people closer together by promoting an understanding of our common humanity.
